The Homestead Hurricanes have been around for ages! We were actually one of the founding members of the Kansas City Country Club league. However, over the years Homestead chose to switch over to the MOKAN Swim League as our needs changed.
The MOKAN Swim League is a more relaxed "summer" league that focuses on team building, developing individual techniques and creating respect for others all while enjoyed the the fun of a seasonal summer program. The MOKAN League allows ALL swimmers to participate in meets, not just the top 10-25% of participants.
The HCC club color is green, so why do the Hurricanes use Red & Black?
We get this question all the time! The club colors are based on the nautical hurricane flag which is a red flag with a black square in the center (see below).
