There are tons of ways to help. Below is a list of the critical jobs that make our meets run smoothly, as well as jobs that are needed during the season. There is something for everyone so review this list and then go to the Meets Tab to sign up!

Meet Volunteer Jobs

Clerk of the Course

• Clerk of the Course keeps the swim meet moving efficiently by organizing the swimmers into lanes and heats ahead of their events. Swimmers wait in order in the rows of chairs, as each heat runs, swimmers move up a row. Combines heats before meet starts.

Timer

• Timers collect the time card from the swimmer prior to a race. Using stopwatches, timers stand at the end of the lane to clock and record times.

Back-Up Timer

• In the event that a timer's stopwatch malfunctions during the race, the back-up timers are called in and their time will be used.

Awards

• Table volunteer who puts the ribbons in the swimmers' folders for Homestead's team.

Coach Cooler

• Provide coaches with drinks/snacks day of meet. Coordinate with other volunteer. Drop-off at 8:00 AM.

Runner

• Lead swimmers from the Clerk of the Course to chairs- or carry cards from Clerk to Timers- or, carry cards from Timers to Table.

Announcer

Home ONLY

• Announces all swim events and any relevant meet announcements to ensure that the meet runs according to schedule. Must be at pool by 5:15pm to announce pre-meet activities (on the job training provided).

Hospitality

Home ONLY

• Delivers drinks for all meet volunteers- Timers, Stroke Judges, Announcer, Clerk of Course, etc.

Computer

Home ONLY

• Enter the official times for each swimmer into computer system during the meet and complete all entries by the conclusion of the meet. Typically not too hard to handle if you are familiar with computers. 

Balloter/Arranger

• Table volunteer who takes cards that come from the pool deck after races and arranges them for the computer person.

Team Parent/Clean Up

• Help coaches locate swimmers for events and ensure swimmers are behaving properly. Help clean up the team area after meet is finished.
